Few teams play on Thursday night twice in one season. However, certain schedule quirks, including the Thanksgiving games and the season opener, allows the NFL to schedule some Thursday repeats.

We’ll be seeing one of those repeats in Week 6 of the 2021 NFL season. The “Thursday Night Football” matchup will, once again, feature the reigning Super Bowl champions against an NFC East team.

In Week 1, the Buccaneers took on the Cowboys at home in Tampa Bay. This time around, they’ll be the road team. They’ll head up to Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia to take on the Eagles.

Tom Brady will make his 305th regular-season start on Thursday. His opponent, Jalen Hurts, will make just his 10th overall start. Needless to say, the Bucs will have an advantage in the experience category.

Below is everything to know about Thursday night’s matchup, plus everything you need to know to watch the first Week 6 game of the 2021 NFL season.

Who plays on ‘Thursday Night Football’ tonight?

  • Matchup: Buccaneers at Eagles
  • Location: Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pa.

The Buccaneers are travelling to Philadelphia to face the Eagles and open Week 6 of the 2021 NFL season. The Buccaneers are looking to win their third consecutive game and they’ve posted a 4-1 record to start the campaign. Their lone loss came against the Rams, another team that has gone 4-1.

Tampa Bay has a great offense that is scoring 33.4 points per game, good for the third-most in the NFL. The Eagles rank middle-of-the-pack defensively and are allowing 24.8 points per game. So, if they want to win, they’ll have to keep pace with the Buccaneers’ offense.

That won’t necessarily be easy. The Bucs have the NFL’s best run defense and are allowing just 45.8 rushing yards per game. However, they are allowing a league-high 314.4 receiving yards per game, and that’s the strength of Hurts and the Eagles. Will they find enough success if they can’t run the ball, however? That’s a question worth asking.

It’s also worth noting that Brady has a 12-3 career record in Thursday night games. He is 5-2 in seven career games against the Eagles.
