Baker Mayfield will take a break with a banged-up left shoulder, and Case Keenum will start at quarterback for the Browns on Thursday night against the Denver Broncos.

The Browns announced the decision Wednesday morning.

Mayfield revealed Tuesday he suffered a completely torn labrum in his left, non-throwing shoulder Sept. 19 against the Houston Texans, and the damage became worse Sunday when he crashed to the ground on a J.J. Watt sack during the third quarter of a 37-14 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

Keenum, 33, last started for Washington in 2019, when he went 1-7 while throwing for 11 touchdowns and five interceptions.
